As we approach the UN Climate Change Conference COP29, the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and its global network are united for World Green Building Week (#WGBW24) from 9–13 September. This campaign calls on the building and construction industry to take three steps toward a sustainable, climate-resilient future: Reduce, Electrify, and Adapt.
Three Steps for Change: #BuildingTheTransition to a Sustainable Future
1. Reduce: Lower Energy and Resource Use
The built environment consumes 34% of global energy and half of all raw materials. By improving energy efficiency and reducing waste, the industry can significantly cut these demands, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
2. Electrify: Shift to Clean Energy
Buildings contribute 37% of global energy-related carbon emissions. To reduce this, we need to eliminate fossil fuels and shift to electricity for essential functions, ensuring that energy comes from renewable sources like solar or wind.
3. Adapt: Build Resilience to Climate Change
As global temperatures rise and natural disasters increase, the built environment must adapt. Building climate-resilient infrastructure not only reduces economic losses but also creates jobs in sustainable industries.
What is World Green Building Week?
Now in its 16th year, #WGBW24 is the world’s largest campaign promoting sustainable building practices. Spanning over 75 countries, the GBC network is uniquely positioned to lead the transition to a low-carbon, resilient future.
RSA's Role in Green Transformation
At RSA, we are committed to supporting the #BuildingTheTransition movement by offering energy-efficient automatic door systems that help reduce energy loss and enhance building performance. Our doors are designed to minimize heat loss, integrate with low-carbon energy systems, and ensure long-term resilience against environmental changes. With RSA, you can take meaningful steps toward a sustainable and zero-carbon future.
